Family Engineering Night Fun at DeLisle Elementary

The excitement was contagious at DeLisle Elementary School’s Family Engineering Night as eager students and their families worked together with Chemours volunteers on engaging, hands-on activities that explored the innovative world of science, technology, engineering, art, and math (STEAM). With a focus on creative problem solving, teamwork, and communication, Family Engineering Night increased families’ understanding and appreciation of the role engineering plays in everyday life.

Several STEM challenges were offered to participating families, including Launching Statapults, Giant Jenga, and String Art. Another popular activity, the Robot Launcher, captivated families as they observed a Vex Robot launch balls across the school’s gymnasium. As an added bonus, enthralled students were able to keep any balls they caught.

To top off the memorable evening, DeLisle Elementary School P.T.O. provided a delicious Subway dinner to all participants.

The Family Engineering night was generously sponsored by DeLisle Elementary’s partner in education, The Chemours Company and organized by the school’s S.T.R.E.A.M. committee.

Braeden Collins, Connor Smith, and Austin Knapp conducted experiments in which they utilized a Statapult to launch small balls under a variety of conditions.
